Circuit revives class action against Google for cellular data misuse
The nationwide damages could be as much as $2.7 billion.
Alphabet Inc. faces the possibility of paying billions of dollars in damages after a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel reversed a magistrate judge’s order dismissing a nationwide class action by Android users who claim Google’s technology appropriates their cellular data.
In an unpublished decision, the panel revived the conversion claim by a class of non-California plaintiffs, remanding it back to district court.
