Judge approves veterans' class action against federal government

Judge David O. Carter was not convinced by the government's concerns that the class, made up of homeless and disabled veterans, would be too broad and ill-defined.

A federal judge on Thursday said he will approve a putative class of thousands of Los Angeles-based homeless and disabled veterans to join a lawsuit accusing the U.S. government and local authorities of a continued failure to provide adequate care and housing support.

The National Veterans Foundation, along with several individual veteran plaintiffs, claimed the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs and the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles had been neglecting their duties...
