Environmental groups reach settlement with city over biofuel refinery

The case related to plans approved by the city of Paramount which would have allowed a local refinery to dramatically increase its output.

A Los Angeles judge approved a settlement between environmental advocates and the city of Paramount in a case that claimed that a plan to expand a local biofuel refinery would be harmful to nearby schools and neighborhoods. The settlement will require the facility, which processes beef tallow and vegetable oils, to adhere to strict air quality requirements.
