Ruling could frustrate prosecutions over threats to judges

The 1st District Court of Appeal found that there was "no substantial evidence" that the individual intended the threat to be conveyed to the judge.

A new appellate court ruling suggests that it could be difficult to prosecute some defendants for threatening online comments about judges. Meanwhile, a bill now before the California Senate could make it harder for people to obtain judges’ home addresses.
