Court rules county retirement agency has constitutional right to set its own salaries
The decision from the 2nd District Court of Appeal also addressed whether California law imposes a ministerial duty on county boards of supervisors to abide by salary and classification determinations.




The Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association has the constitutional and statutory rights to create employment classifications and set salaries for its employees, the 2nd District Court of Appeal ruled on Monday. The appellate panel reversed a Los Angeles Superior Court ruling in favor of the county, which the association sued in 2021.
