Lawsuit filed against federal agencies over offshore oil leases in Santa Barbara Channel
The lawsuit alleges that the agencies failed to comply with the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, and the Administrative Procedure Act by not conducting an environmental review and determining that the lease extensions are "in the national interest."




The Center for Biological Diversity and the Wishtoyo Chumash Foundation accused the Department of the Interior and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement of unlawfully renewing several offshore oil and gas leases in the Santa Barbara Channel in a lawsuit filed in federal court Thursday.
