Deadline passes for voluntary removal of ballot measures

Proponents of an initiative to roll back key portions of Proposition 47 failed to reach a compromise with lawmakers, while a deal was reached to amend California's Private Attorney General Act.

A smaller November ballot took shape with the passing of a key deadline on Thursday.

June 27 marked the last day for proponents to voluntarily remove a qualified measure from the November ballot -- something that generally happens once they have reached a compromise agreement with lawmakers. This process worked for one key measure.
