San Francisco court unlawfully delayed misdemeanor trial
"The Superior Court's use of COVID-19 as a reason to endlessly delay trials has always been unjust and harmful," Deputy Public Defender Oliver Kroll said in a statement on Tuesday.
A state appellate court ordered the San Francisco Superior Court to dismiss a misdemeanor case after finding that it unlawfully delayed the trial for more than a year using COVID-19 as an excuse even though all pandemic-related emergency orders had long been lifted.
