Defamation over 'Baby Reindeer' self-inflicted, Netflix says

In a motion to toss the case brought by UK lawyer Fiona Harvey, who claims she inspired the character "Martha," Netflix's counsel said, "any supposed harm was caused by Harvey, and Harvey alone."

Attorneys defending Netflix against defamation claims related to its hit miniseries "Baby Reindeer" say the company's presentation of the story is legally protected opinion and the plaintiff is incapable of demonstrating reputational harm because any negative attention she claimed to have received following the show's release was self-imposed.
