9th Circuit rejects bid by Cambodian villagers in forced labor lawsuit

The panel rejected the argument that the new law, Abolish Trafficking Reauthorization Act of 2022, clarified a 2003 anti-trafficking law and should revive their claims based on the amendment.

A divided 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel on Wednesday rejected a bid by Cambodian villagers who allege they were trafficked into Thailand to provide forced labor for a seafood processor to revive their lawsuit due to a law passed by Congress in January 2023.
