Claims implicating hospital in nurse's fatal car crash dismissed

Nurse on temporary placement left abruptly, sped through a red light and caused a multi-vehicle crash.

A Los Angeles trial court judge has granted Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Inc.'s motion for summary adjudication in a lawsuit alleging wrongful death and negligence against a traveling nurse who caused a fatal car crash in 2022.

In his Aug. 14 order, Judge Lee S. Arian wrote that Kaiser established a defense under the goings and comings doctrine to claims of negligence and wrongful death. Arian also dismissed the plaintiff's negligent entrustment cause of action.
