Women Lawyers Contribute to Girls' Nonprofit

Dozens of lawyers gathered Tuesday night at the Four Seasons Hotel in East Palo Alto, where the Bay Area planning committee for the National Association of Women Lawyers hosted its first "Night of Giving." Girls to Women, an East Palo Alto nonprofit organization that operates after-school and summer school programs for girls in kindergarten through middle school, was the recipient of the evening of fundraising. Girls to Women received donations of games and learning activities as well as funding. Serving on the planning committee were: Laurie Charrington, a Palo Alto-based Jones Day associate who served as chairwoman of the event; Anne O'Niell, a San Francisco partner at Hinshaw & Culbertson; Stephanie Choy, director of the Legal Services Trust Fund Program for the State Bar of California; Duane Morris partner Dominica Anderson; Erin MacLeod of Wind River Systems Inc.; and Sherri Morgan of LexisNexis. NAWL's Bay Area planning committee has also organized a continuing legal education class and a networking event since the committee formed about a year ago.
