DLA Piper Rewarded for Pro Bono Work

The American Bar Association awarded DLA Piper its Business Law Section's 2011 National Public Service Award for its commitment to pro bono work. With the Bar Association of San Francisco's Volunteer Legal Services Program, DLA Piper provides free legal services to low-income communities across northern California, including services in family law, eviction prevention, consumer debt defense and aid to the homeless. In 2010, the firm donated 136,000 hours of time to pro bono projects in the U.S. and its nonprofit affiliate project, New Perimeter, which addresses international justice issues, such as legal education. Program Director Sheldon Krantz accepted the award on behalf of the firm at the ABA's annual business section meeting in Boston on April 15.
