Domestic Violence Project Commemorates 25 Years of Service

The Los Angeles County Bar Association celebrated the 25th anniversary of its Domestic Violence Project March 3 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Designed to aid victims of domestic violence navigate the legal system, the project has helped over 100,000 people since its inception in 1986. The event raised more than $100,000, including grants from Verizon Wireless and Buchalter Nemer to support the infrastructure and continuous development of the project. Verizon’s contribution will help fund development of new technology solutions to support the Project’s free court program, and Buchalter Nemer’s establishes an assistance fund in the firm’s name. Money was not the only contribution recognized: the celebration also honored Los Angeles County Superior Court Presiding Judge Lee Smalley Edmon, District Judge Margaret Morrow, Los Angeles County Sherrif Lee Baca, and Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky for their commitment to helping domestic violence and their families.
