This week's show features two of our most popular segments from previous episodes, conversations with California Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye and former U.S. Solicitor General Donald Verrilli.


Chief Justice Cantil-Sakauye will visit to discuss her ascent from prosecutor to California's top jurist, and she'll share her thoughts on what appellate practices she finds most effective in her courtroom.


Then Donald Verrilli will join the program for a wide-ranging discussion of his time as the 46th Solicitor General of the United States. During his service, Mr. Verrilli argued the government's position in cases relating to marriage equality, immigration, affirmative action, reproductive rights, healthcare, and voting rights, to name only a few. Mr. Verrilli candidly reflects on the preparation that went into those cases and the legacy he leaves behind, as he begins a new role with the firm Munger Tolles & Olson, in their Washington, DC, office.
