Savitt, an experienced trial attorney having tried close to 100 jury trials, focuses on defending employers and individuals who are sued for wrongful termination. She has represented health care, legal, retail, and public sector employers.
Prior to focusing on labor and employment law, Savitt specialized in medical malpractice lawsuits, representing hospitals whose professional liability policies covered employment cases. After finding success in her first few hospital-assigned labor and employment lawsuits, outside parties began hiring her, and Savitt made the transition from medical malpractice to labor and employment law.
Savitt frequently lectures to management groups, administrators, judges, and physician groups as well as a variety of bar-sponsored groups.
However, the majority of her lectures aren’t focused on law. Usually, the audience is more interested in Savitt’s perspective on trying cases.
“When you’re a labor and employment lawyer, the law is very important... When you’re a trial lawyer, the most important thing is the facts,” Savitt said, “you have to be able to teach the jury about what a company does, what their responsibilities are, what their company culture is like.”
Additionally, Savitt serves as a volunteer court-appointed mediator for the Los Angeles County Superior Court’s mediation program and is a member of the 2005-2006 Blue Ribbon Committee on the Superior Court. She also serves in UCLA’s Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation board of directors.
