Tips & Tricks

Are you backing up every bit of data on your system or network every two or three days? Disaster season is upon us?hurricanes, floods, power failures, ice storms, and, oh please no, earthquakes. You must back up your data. At the very least, use a freebie program such as Siber Systems' GoodSync (www.goodsynch. com), which performs stellar backups even though its emphasis is on synchronizing two folders, two machines, two disks, or two thumb drives. Its interface is clear and simple: Choose a folder from the left-hand list and then a folder from the right-hand list (doesn't matter which is left or right), then specify the files and frequency for backups. On alternating days, back up to alternating external hard drives, and once a week manually email the files to your brother in Presumpscot, Maine.
