Use the Repair function to, you guessed it, fix stuff.

By Sandra Rosenzweig

When I try to figure out what has messed up my Acrobat installer or why I can't hear a sound from the latest San Francisco Chronicle podcast, I often use the Repair function in Add or Remove Programs. (Click on Start, then Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, then the Change or Remove Programs button at the top of the left-hand navigation bar, and then highlight the application in question. Click on its Change/ Remove button. Some apps will only uninstall, while others will give you the choice of repairing or uninstalling. See whether repair works. Sometimes it actually does.
