Quickly set up a live-video conferencing system. By Sandra Rosenzweig

By Sandra Rosenzweig

No. 44: Previously, live video on a computer has always seemed too complex and less than useful. Nowadays, that's just not the case. Lawyers are using live video for client conferences (distance representation?) and even to solve visitation issues between squabbling parents. With a couple of $100 Web cams and a free piece of software from Sightspeed (www.sight speed.com), you can set up a conference in minutes. Consider both the desktop and laptop versions of cameras from Logitech (www. logitech.com) and Creative (www. creative.com). They're so smart that they track your face as you move, and so clear that you can read a document onscreen. Now you'll have to get a haircut!
