Working with TV networks and continuously emerging viewing platforms, Polashuk's job is changing every day. She advises content providers on distribution agreements and transactions across a spectrum of distribution platforms.
"How the consumer watches TV is what everyone is thinking about right now," Polashuk said. "How can we address that in a way that they can watch and enjoy it but to also be able to monetize that?"
One of her biggest deals was last year when she represented Fox Networks Group, which sought to carry a suite of its networks, including FX, FS1, NatGeo and regional sports networks on the Sling TV platform, a content online streamer.
Polashuk also played a role in representing the National Football League in negotiations to broadcast the NFL Network and RedZone across multiple technologies and platforms.
"I think what keeps it interesting is the intellectual challenge ... I'm never bored, that's for sure," Polashuk said.
She also joked about how since she works with familiar networks, her family and friends finally understand what she does for a living.
Polashuk also represented Fox News Network LLC in its lawsuit over lower programming rates against Charter Communications Holding Co. LLC after it acquired Time Warner Cable. Fox News Network LLC v. Charter Communications Holding Co. LLC et al., 653777/2016 (N.Y. Sup. Ct., filed July 19, 2016).
Looking ahead, she said content creators and digital platforms are going to have to keep striking the right balance of subscription and advertisements as well as how to continue making money in an age when viewers want fewer ads.
Polashuk also added she expects traditional incumbents in the entertainment world to start offering different packages, such as smaller cable subscriptions, so people don't have to pay for a lot of channels they don't want.
"A lot of consumers want things for free, which is a little challenging," she said. "It takes some monetization to make great television."
