Dolan Law Firm | San Francisco | Personal injury and product liability

Dolan scored a victory last year in a controversial case involving Jahi McMath, a teenage girl declared brain dead following a tonsillectomy peformed in an Oakland hospital to treat sleep apnea.

McMath suffered massive blood loss and cardiac arrest, leading doctors at Children's Hospital Oakland to decide to end her life support.

The story of McMath's condition sparked national attention on what constituted brain death. Meanwhile, Dolan convinced Alameda County Judge Evelio Grillo to grant her family a restraining order, which prevented the hospital from pulling the plug on McMath's life support.

In October, Dolan obtained an extension on the restraining order. Winkfield v. Children's Hospital Oakland et al., RG 13-707598 (Alameda Co. Super. Ct., filed Dec. 23, 2013).

Dolan did not pursue a medical malpractice lawsuit, which is underway in Alameda County, but he is currently trying to overturn McMath's incomplete death certificate in California.
