Paul R. Kiesel

I always say it's a way of life and not a job," said Kiesel, of his 30 years of practice.
He specializes in personal injury, as well as complex pharmaceutical and medical device
defect cases. "It's in every fiber of my being to help those who don't have an opportunity
to help themselves, to be there as a source of comfort for those who suffered loss."

Currently, he is co-lead counsel for the victims of the fiery crash between a Fed-Ex
truck and a charter bus carrying high school students travelling to visit Humboldt
State University. The crash resulted in 10 fatalities. Rivera v. FedEx Corp., et al, BC543441 (L.A. Co. Super. Ct., filed May 20, 2014).

Kiesel also advocates to increase state funding to the judicial system as co-chair
of the Open Courts Coalition. As the president of the Los Angeles County Bar Association,
he said he plans to continue to advocate for access to justice initiatives. While
there has been an increase in state funding to the court system, Kiesel cautioned
"We still are not adequately funded to do what we need to do for access to justice."
