In the spirit of the U.S. Open, and in support of equal access to justice, the Los Angeles and Orange county bar associations hosted charity golf tournaments last week.144 golfers arrived at Pelican Hill Golf Club in Newport Coast to participate in the Orange County Bar Association Charitable Fund Judge Kenneth Lae Golf Tournament. Founded 26 years ago in honor of Judge Lae, the tournament helps the OCBA Charitable Fund provide grants to Orange County law-related programs and organizations. Further north, 60 golfers teed up at the Los Angeles County Bar Foundation’s 1st Annual Golf Tournament, held at the Tournament Players Club at Valencia. Teams of four competed for low net and low gross, as well as individual prizes, such as “Closest to Pin” and “Longest Drive.” Pictured below, putting contest winner Brian Robbins of Hunt Ortmann Palffy Nieves Lubka Darling & Mah in Pasadena, prepared to make a 50-foot putt for $3,000 as fellow golfers watched.
