Every year for the past eight years, Daniel Ben-Zvi of DB Mediation Services along with other mediators, lawyers and politicians, have gathered at City Hall to seek support from the city for a mediation day. This year the effort has grown to a Mediation Awareness Week. Councilman Dennis Zine was sponsor and host of the event and Ben-Zvi, as usual, served as chair. They were joined by Diane Mar Wiesman, president of Association of Southern California Defense Counsel, Joseph M. Barrett, vice-president of Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, Renata Valree, director of the city attorney’s dispute resolution program director, Lucie Barron of ADR Services and Barbara Brown of Brown Mediation. “The purpose is to encourage government use of mediation and to promote the publics awareness of the tremendous value of mediation,” Ben-Zvi said. - Connie Lopez
