Patent litigation

Over the past 14 months, Bettinger has been extraordinarily busy representing clients in major patent litigation, serving as lead counsel in a dozen separate intellectual property cases and four hearings before the U.S. International Trade Commission.

He is representing Eastman Kodak Co. in nine separate lawsuits pending across the country against Apple Inc., and supervised 40 lawyers as lead counsel in a just-completed patent infringement case against the Cupertino-based technology giant.

Last December, Bettinger won a defense victory for San Diego-based Novatel Wireless Inc. in a jury trial against a subsidiary of Newport Beach-based patent holding company Acacia Research Corp. And last September, Bettinger persuaded an ITC judge to invalidate an LSI Corp. patent after presenting evidence that IBM engineers invented it first.
