Property damage litigation and financial institutions

California wildfires generated a lot of legal heat and Simon has been at the forefront of litigating those cases on behalf of homeowner insurance carriers.

He was one of the lead attorneys in last year's settlement between San Diego Gas & Electric and insurance companies, seeking recovery for losses from the Witch, Rice and Guejito wildfires. The settlement, valued at between $920 million to $960 million, resolved 20,000 claims.

Simon continues to handle pending wildfire-related cases, with damages estimated at more than $10 million.

Simon says he tries to remain cool.

"When I was young, I thought that winning was just showing how tough you can be," he says. "As I've lost hair and testosterone and gained wisdom, I've learned that winning is about achieving your client's goals in a way that is not a waste of judicial resources."
