Business litigation
Glaser, chair of the firm's litigation department, worked on several high-profile entertainment cases over the past year, including scoring a $45 million settlement for Conan O'Brien and his staff after NBC Universal moved to replace him with former "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno. Glaser also defeated a $22 million breach of contract lawsuit against the Frank Gehry-owned Gehry Design by a company that says it was owed half. A judge dismissed the lawsuit with prejudice on the eve of closing arguments. Glaser also represented the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority in a dispute in which plaintiffs sought to overturn a district court's ruling that the consent decree approved 10 years earlier could expire as scheduled without contempt sanctions on the MTA. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals sided with MTA. Glaser also obtained the dismissal of a class action lawsuit against Miley Cyrus alleging that the entertainer's facial expression in a widely-circulated photograph was offensive to persons of Asian descent. Glaser also successfully defended real estate broker Blake Mirkin and brokerage firm CB Richard Ellis against claims of breach of fiduciary duty.
