Health care litigation

A litigation partner in Manatt's Los Angeles Office, Pimstone represents healthcare companies and received an important victory this summer. He represented Blue Shield in a much-watched rescission case, Hailey v. California Physicians Service dba Blue Shield of California. It was the first trial in the state involving the question of when insurers can cancel policies for omissions in the application, and Pimstone won it before an Orange County Jury. In December, he garnered a published appellate decision holding that health plans are not liable for decisions made by medical groups with which they contract for patient services, which was a huge win for big insurance plans.
