The partner-in-charge of the firms Los Angeles office has been a key player in a slew of complex litigation trials recently involving a variety of cases, from antitrust to securities to oil and gas and to health care, in courts throughout the country. One of his highest profile cases came last fall in Los Angeles, when he represented Dole Food Co. against the unprecedented claims of five Nicaraguan men who alleged the company rendered them sterile through pesticide exposure. A Los Angeles County Superior Court jury awarded $3.3 million in compensatory damages to the workers and $2.5 million in punitive damages. But Judge Victoria G. Chaney threw out the punitive award. The case is on appeal.
