He played a central role in the Oracle/BEA feud earlier this year. The corporate chair of the firm's San Francisco office was one of the lead partners for Oracle in its attempt to acquire BEA systems, during a public feud that included Carl Icahn and the CEOs of both companies. Ultimately, he helped orchestrate an $8.5 billion agreement between the pair. Togther with his corporate partners, he helped pave the way for the firm's $2 billion year.
