The Impact Fund | Berkeley

Sixteen years after founding the Impact Fund to champion public interest law, Seligman is still fighting the fight, providing financing and legal expertise for complex public interest litigation. In August, he took on an East Bay police department, claiming authorities are racially discriminating against and conducting illegal searches of low-income, Section 8 housing residents. Seligman, who has successfully litigated 50 civil rights class actions, remains lead counsel in a nationwide sex discrimination class action against Wal-Mart, the largest civil rights class action ever certified. He’s also lead counsel in a nationwide gender discrimination case against Costco, which a judge has put on hold pending the outcome in Wal-Mart.
