Intel Corp. | Santa Clara

Perhaps he’s best described as a successful juggler. Since becoming general counsel in 2004, he has overseen a staff of 600, including 250 lawyers, at the Santa Clara semiconductor giant. This year, he helped steer Intel’s $1.5 billion investment, together with Google, to acquire a stake in Sprint Nextel Co.-Clearwire Corp.’s WiMax high-speed wireless efforts. Meanwhile, he’s had the Federal Trade Commission’s formal antitrust investigation to consider, along with a $25 million fine from the Korea Fair Trade Commission. He manages the company’s use of more than 400 outside law firms, plus turns an eye toward corporate citizenship. Public Counsel awarded his department its Corporate Achievement Award this year for its pro bono program.
