    Boucher bet his firm on hundreds of sexual-abuse cases against the Roman Catholic Church in Southern California. In July, he led the plaintiffs to a record $660 million deal to settle 500 cases against the Los Angeles Archdiocese. All the while, as this year's president of the Consumer Attorneys of California, he used his legendary negotiation skills to scuttle legislation in Sacramento that would have significantly restricted the filing of class actions.
