Pimstone, head of Manatt's health care litigation practice, boasts a list of clients including Blue Shield of California. This year two Los Angeles County Superior Court judges' granted Pimstone's motions for summary judgment when he argued the provider did not engage in post-claims underwriting. In the suits, a couple whose newborn twins were diagnosed with brain impairments and a woman who had surgery to remove fibroids claimed breach of contract and fiduciary duty after Blue Shield rescinded their health care plans.
