Arent Fox LLP

As the leader of the privacy, cybersecurity and data protection group at Arent Fox LLP, Bruno’s practice encompasses advertising, cybersecurity, trademark and copyright laws.

“There’s certainly enough going on in the privacy world where I’d still be super busy, but with three areas of law, it’s a fun challenge to stay on top of things for each area,” Bruno said.

Sony Playstation, LG Electronics and the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions are just some of her clients as is makeup giant Benefit Cosmetics.

The robust legal practice has challenges.

“We’re dealing with consumer-driven promotion and technology and figuring out how to comply with global standards or create one universal set of advice,” she said. “So understanding the risk tolerance and where they’re able to draw the line of the risk they’re willing to take is always the biggest challenge.”

One way Bruno overcomes the challenges is by providing ongoing strategic counseling.

“Internal counseling involves a deep understanding of the business, like maybe you’re not having to go to court to argue a position, but you have to give day-to-day advice on different things, whether it be internal or political issues like getting [a claim] cleared,” she said.

“But I like the varied nature of my practice and clients I work with. It’s fun, fast-paced and the issues are always really hot and relevant.”

Along with a robust legal practice, Bruno enjoys being able to work with a team that primarily comprises women at this point in her career.

“I work with a lot of women, and value the support and camaraderie we have,” she said.
