George represents conservative commentator Dennis Prager and a group of LGBT content creators in what is expected to be one of the most important cases on social media censorship. Both plaintiffs say YouTube censored or demonetized their videos based on their political content. Prager’s case is before the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the LGBT case is at the trial court.
The fact that George represents plaintiffs with diverse political views speaks to the niche he has carved out for himself in the current polarized political climate. A former aide to California Gov. Pete Wilson and U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch, George has solid Republican credentials but is regularly sought out for help by Democrats. For 20 years governors and presidents of both political parties have turned to him to help them select their judicial candidates in California.
This year, Los Angeles City Attorney Michael Feuer, seen as a rising star in the state Democratic party, turned to George to navigate through a scandal that threatened his administration. Prior lawyers hired by the city are accused of simultaneously representing the city and a plaintiff in a lawsuit against the Department of Water and Power over faulty billing software. Feuer has denied knowledge of the scheme and no evidence has surfaced to show otherwise.
