The Orange County Trial Lawyers Association donated 1,000 protective face masks to the superior court.
The masks will be provided to members of the public who enter courthouses, according to court spokesperson Kostas Kalaitzidis.
"On behalf of the Orange County Superior Court, I extend my sincere gratitude to the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association and its president Jonathan Dwork," said David Yamasaki, court executive officer. "The donation of the masks comes at a very important time in our community, when we reopen our doors to those who have required our services since the outbreak of the pandemic."
While the court was prepared to issue protective gear to employees working in the courthouses, the large demand for protective equipment and the limited inventory at the court's disposal wouldn't have been enough to accommodate the public, Kalaitzidis said.
Orange County Superior Court remains closed at least until May 22, with some exceptions for time sensitive matters pertaining to the safety and security of the community.
