Loeb & Loeb LLP

Khalili is a transactional attorney representing individuals and companies in the media, entertainment, technology, sports, fashion and wellness industries.

He represented Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, a high-profile gamer and social media influencer with more than 24 million YouTube subscribers, in media, endorsement, brand licensing, sponsorship and esports deals.

Last September, Blevins signed a multi-year deal with Twitch, Amazon’s game-focused, live-streaming platform. While financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, Blevins had previously signed a precedent-setting $30 million deal with Microsoft’s Mixer. Khalili also represented Blevins in a sponsorship deal with Red Bull, and an apparel deal with Adidas Originals, which makes him the first professional esports celebrity to be signed by the brand.

“We continue to work on some of the most cutting-edge and unique deals,” Khalili said, “which have opened doors for gamers, streamers and social media influencers that continue to make waves in the industry.”

Just as digital streaming platforms have transformed the movie industry, Khalili said over the last few years, the rise of social media influencers, prominent YouTubers and rock star gamers like Blevins have forever reshaped traditional media.

“Social media has removed many barriers to entry, and offered talent opportunities that were non-existent several years ago. Influencers from health and wellness, beauty, fashion, fitness and gaming are monetizing their brand, making professional careers out of it,” he said. “And the industry, as a result, is becoming more sophisticated.”

Khalili also recently represented 13-time NBA All-Star Dwyane Wade in his purchase of an ownership stake in the Utah Jazz basketball franchise. While the percentage of Wade’s ownership stake has not been disclosed, he has said he plans to take an active role in the franchise, bringing a progressive vision to the community.

“He’s a remarkable individual,” Khalili said. “Dwayne joined an amazing ownership group. It’s great for the franchise, and it’s great for Dwyane on many different levels.”

As co-chair of the firm’s sports practice, Khalili is passionate about health, wellness and fitness – industries that are intricately connected. He recently advised Earth Island in its sale to Paris-based Danone. Earth Island is the maker of the Follow Your Heart and Vegenaise brands and a pioneer in plant-based foods.

“The health and wellness industries, from a trend perspective, have really taken off, and I’m excited to be at the forefront of those deals,” he said.
