I've always had a love for math and science," said Rahebi, explaining why she first found patent law to be a field of particular interest.
This love for the subject matter led Rahebi to take on numerous leadership roles in the field. She is co- chair of her firm's intellectual property litigation group. She was a president of the Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association and a co-founder of its Women in IP Committee.
Rahebi's ability to lead a team was developed early on. As a first-year associate, she honed her skills on the fly when she litigated a semiconductor case and handled multiple depositions on her own. She cites this seminal moment as the reason for her confidence as a lead attorney.
Speaking on the qualities that she looks for in a successful trial team, "No. 1 is respect, regardless of your role in a case," Rahebi said. "I am looking for everyone to be their best. We are as good as a team as we are as a whole. Additionally, we create a space where team members can voice different ideas. I want to be challenged and to hear different perspectives. We need opportunities for every team member to grow."
Regarding the unique challenges associated with litigating cases in different districts, Rahebi said, "Each case is dependent on the judge. As a trial lawyer, it's important to understand your jury pool. We often conduct juror research in order to shape our strategy."
With other trials on the horizon for Rahebi, she will be doing what she loves most. "I want to do more of this. I love trial work. I love being in court," she said.
