Ryan D. Saba has been focusing on trial work since launching his firm with partner James R. Rosen in 1999.
“My longtime partner Jim Rosen handled some high-profile and celebrity clients who needed representation,” Saba said. “We achieved serious success in that space, which has catapulted our firm squarely into this practice, and ever since then, I would say that we were fortunate enough to represent both plaintiffs and defendants in the professional ethics arena.”
Over the past few years, Rosen Saba has tackled complex high-dollar-value legal malpractice cases. Saba was brought in to represent Keith Griffin, a former non-equity partner in the now-defunct firm Girardi Keese, in contempt proceedings related to the 2018 Lion Air disaster in Indonesia.
On Oct. 29, 2018, only moments after takeoff, Lion Air Flight 610 crashed, killing everyone on board. The tragedy was worsened when attorney Thomas Girardi took some of the money owed to clients from agreements with Boeing regarding claims related to the crash.
U.S. District Judge Thomas M. Durkin ruled Griffin would not be held in contempt for his involvement in the Lion Air crash litigation, during which millions of dollars due to victims were stolen. Lion Air Flight JT 610 Crash, 18-cv-07686 (N.D. Ill., filed Nov. 19, 2018).
“I’m really proud of the work our firm has done on these complex legal malpractice cases representing clients who have been victimized by bad lawyers and also representing lawyers and law firms against claims of legal malpractice,” he said. “It’s an interesting mix of a practice that I’m very fortunate and proud that our firm does.”
