Jason E. Fellner has been working in the realm of professional responsibility since 2006 after completing a clerkship with the court and beginning to work under Timothy J. Halloran at Murphy, Pearson, Bradley & Feeney, P.C.
Fellner was given instant litigation exposure and the opportunity to grow as a lawyer, taking his first deposition in a legal malpractice case within his first month on the job. He has since honed his litigation and negotiation skills, learning from colleagues and lawyer clients and being exposed to many different areas of the law under the umbrella of professional responsibility.
Fellner has had several significant successes in his work.
“In representing a law firm client in a federal court case, we recently obtained a court order of dismissal after several rounds of motions to dismiss,” Fellner said. “On the flip side, in representing a plaintiff in a legal malpractice action with an underlying employment matter, we recently obtained a substantial settlement for our client in pre-litigation mediation. In both cases, my clients were thrilled and that’s what makes the work so gratifying.”
Another significant case involved representing a private dermatology clinic in a pre-litigation mediation of a legal malpractice claim, resulting in a $500,000 settlement. Fellner had to engage an expert early to prove breaches of the standard of care and present the case as if he was in trial before litigation commenced, without the benefit of discovery.
