Patrick Baghdaserians

Patrick Baghdaserians is a State Bar Certified Family Law Specialist and managing partner at Baghdaserians Law Group Inc., a boutique firm he founded in 2019 with his friend and colleague Daniel J. Leonetti.

The firm specializes in complex family law litigation, including divorce, child support determination, child custody and visitation, spousal support determination, domestic violence, division of property and business valuation.

Baghdaserians said a passion for advocacy drew him to family law.

One exemplifying case includes obtaining a sole physical custody order for a parent wrongly accused of sexual abuse. The main challenge in this case was proving a negative.

“The mother claimed that the father had raped her hundreds of times, a shocking claim that caused a massive ripple effect in family court. My client had monitored visitation because of this allegation,” Baghdaserians said.

Over time, he was able to demonstrate in court that not only were the statements false, but that the father was by far the more appropriate and stable parent.

“This process took three years,” Baghdaserians said.

He said cross-examination was key in turning a judicial officer to his side when it truly is a matter of “he said, she said.”

Another notable case involved obtaining a five-year restraining order against a well-known plastic surgeon based solely on stalking.

“Through cross examination, I was able to demonstrate that the doctor was engaged in an ongoing course of conduct spanning years,” Baghdaserians said. “The doctor was using friends, family members and community member to terrorize wife in a passive aggressive manner.”

In addition to the rise of social media becoming extremely important for evidence gathering, he noted another new development within family law.

“Also, a change in law regarding secret recordings,” Baghdaserians said. “Victims of domestic violence are now able to secretly record their perpetrators without their knowledge or consent.”
