VERNON - Tapatío Foods founder Jose-Luis Saavedra first cooked up a batch of the Mexican-style hot sauce in his family's home in Maywood in the late 1960s. He and his three children made and bottled the sauce by hand, often late into the night, while working other jobs and going to school.
By the time the company's general counsel, Roché S. McCoy, joined in 2006, Tapatío was well on its way to becoming one of the best-selling hot sauces in California.
