SAN FRANCISCO - Latham & Watkins LLP partner Patrick Pohlen's first attempt to recruit his former colleague, Stephanie King, to the general counsel position for his client AdRoll Inc. was unsuccessful. At the time, King was working as an associate general counsel at Zynga Inc. and had just learned she was pregnant with her third child. "Now's not a good time," she told him.
Pohlen even reached out to King's husband, but to no avail.
