Timothy Taich notices streetlights as he's driving around and, unlike most people, he sees them as a potent symbol of the enormous positive change LED lighting can bring to the world. There are 35 million streetlights in the world, and replacing all those bulbs with highly efficient light emitting diode lights would be equivalent to saving the energy from 15 coal power plants, he said.
