Google and its parent company Alphabet Inc. are famous for an extensive interview process, including phone screenings, background checks, interviews and working hard to determine a candidate’s Googleyness. For Jeremiah Gordon, it was the complete opposite.

“I was kind of ambivalent about it, to be honest with you,” Gordon said. “I was in my seventh or eighth year at a law firm, and I never applied to work at Alphabet.”
