Summary

The CA Supreme Court agreed to review People v. Ahmed, a criminal case from the 4th District Court of Appeal where the defendant was convicted and sentenced based on enhancements for the use of a firearm in violation of Penal Code Section 12022.5 and under Section 12022.7 for the personal infliction of great bodily injury during domestic violence. The issue was whether the sentence violated Section 654 because the defendant incurred both enhancements while acting with the same intent and objective.
