SAN DIEGO — Legal careers are a hallmark of Judge Katherine A. Bacal’s family. She, her brother, sister and mother attended law schools at around the same time and became attorneys.
Her brother, Rick, is a criminal defense attorney, her sister, Susan, is a justice of the peace and her mother, Eva, now in her 80s, is a public defender. All of them, whose surname is Bacal, live in Arizona, where the judge grew up in Tucson.
