EL CAJON - In the early 1990s, obtaining a law degree became a family affair for Katherine Bacal, her mother, sister and brother.
But Bacal, now a Superior Court judge in El Cajon, put her own personal stamp on this state of affairs by attending the University of Texas School of Law while her Tucson-based family stayed closer to home, enrolling at the University of Arizona.
