LOS ANGELES - Superior Court Commissioner Philip Peng approaches his high-volume child custody calendar much like a seasoned runner preparing for a marathon. And he believes that, just as in running, success in the courtroom comes from pacing.
"I found that when I trained slow and run slow, by the time I get to the race I'm a much better runner, because I have more recovery time," he said. "It's easier for me to find a flow."
